tamagotchi: the sticker on my keitai when I first got it. (Mametchi)
The Entama came out after the Keitai. It is basically the equivalent of the English V4 because it can get a career. I have yet to play it all the way through since I just got it, but apparently it has a special feature where it cooks as well, which seems really cute. Just like on the other Japanese connections, the games are not gradually unlocked, but are already playable once the Tamagotchi is born. The Entama is very similar to the Uratama, except that it has black pixels instead of blue pixels. It was also the first to have the new version of Mametchi (giant eyes and big head). So far the buttons on this Tamagotchis are very easy to push, and the response time is very good. Bandai seems to have produced a cheaper shell, though, because on the side where the antenna pops up, the seems is sort of splitting a little bit, and the paint isn't very nice on the back. Like the Uratama it has a lanyard of beads that say "TMGC". This was the first Tamagotchi to have an antenna that stuck out at a sort of diagonal angle with a ball on top. In my opinion these sorts of antennas are the uggliest and most irritating. I'm not sure why Bandai decided to design the shell this way, but oh well. Other than this one stupid thing I would say the Entama and Uratama are both very good virtual pets and I would highly recommend getting them. If you want a similar pet in English then I would recommend getting the V4.5 (not the V4 since in my opinion it isn't that great).

I sold this one to someone in the Facebook groups, but I managed to obtain two others below. The character on the screen is Sebiretchi:

Recently bought this one from Yahoo Japan for an amazing price. It is a shareholders edition and I absolutely love the watermelon design!

I sold this pink Sakura Entama since I just recently bought the snowflake version to replace it:

Price:
I bought this on eBay with a set of Uratamas and the price came out to $33 and change. So I got mine for about $11, but if you bought it alone or new in package it might be a little more expensive. Right now they seem to be going for anywhere from $20-50ish+shipping. I would recommend getting an Entama and Uratama so you have two versions that have a lot of connection capabilities. and characters in common.

The Akai is a special edition of the Keitai. The Ketaitama is the second edition of the original Japanese Tamagotchi Connection. The Keitais have antennas which indicates they can connect to Japanese cell phones, and the American v3 shell+antenna is based on this Japanese design. The difference between the Akai and the Keitai is that the Akai has red pixels, red themed characters and red themed food. The red pixels make it a little difficult to see the action on the screen, but I have to say that this is one of my all time favorite tamagotchis! You input codes to get items. You don't need an interactive website with games to input the codes either. Just find the code chart some where online and you're set for codes! There are a few different secret characters too. Unlike other tamas, your characters get to keep the food and items they buy forever.

Unlike the American v2, it does not have a shop, but a salesman that comes to visit 3 times a day to sell you items. You can choose whether or not to buy them. If you buy them the salesman is happy. If you decline his offers he gets sulky and walks away sadly.Another feature I really enjoy is the alter feature. When your tamagotchi dies and you start it over by pressing a and c buttons simaltaneously, there is a record kept of the previous tama. Go to the list (it's in japanese) that shows the list of dead tamagotchis. There you can select a tamagotchi to pray too. When your character prays to the dead tamagotchi, it is safer in the future. If the grim reaper tries to get your current character, all you have to do is quickly go back to the list and select the character your current one prayed to. The old dead character will come back to life and save your Tamagotchi from the grim reaper! Also if you donate enough points to the king you will get a lucky Unchi-kun to clean up your characters poop. It's pretty funny. I give this Tamagotchi a 9 out of 10 for having so many new, awesome features, but I only wish the pixels had been more visible.

Here are pictures of the ones I currently own. The green one is a Toys 'R' Us special edition:

Recently bought this from Yahoo Japan :)

Recently bought this from eBay I think.

I got this one used on eBay, so it doesn't have the original package.

Got this one used from Natasha on Tamatalk:

price

I bought the Akai and Deka Tama together for about $150. Normally I would not buy something so expensive but it was an auction and it's hard to let things go when you get outbid XD Right now I am seeing an Akai on sale on eBay for $32+shipping, and a regular keitai (black pixels) for $15+shipping, but the prices may range. Anyway, i don't do auctions anymore. Only Buy It Now, so that I don't feel compelled to overspend lol So here's a tip. Unless it is a super RARE Tamagotchi, chances are it is overpriced if it is for over $60.

The Angel Tamagotchi is one of the easier Tamas to take care of. It is said that it was made for all the children who were sad after their regular Tamagotchis died. They decided to make another version with the angel version so that the kids wouldn't feel bad. When you are done taking care of this Tamagotchi it goes back to heaven. It also has a sound and touch screen feature. Sometimes when your angel is eating a snack, a bat will come and try to steal the candy. If you tap the screen the bat will be scared away. If you do not tap the screen in time the bat will steal the candy and the training meter will go down. Tapping the screen also serves to train your angel by bringing your angel back when it decides to go on a walk and disappears from the screen or when it appears disoriented with stars floating around it. I give this Tamagotchi a 10 out of ten because it was way ahead of its time with the touch screen functions and its characters are some of the cutest, as well as having an awesomely cute shell design with cute colors, and being easy to take care of! Apparently, Bandai also made two versions of the pearl white Japanese Tamagotchi angel. The two versions vary in that one has a "butt" icon for the toilet feature, while the other has the standard duck icon. The "butt" Japanese Angelgotchi has icons similar to the American version except the toilet paper icon is replaced with a butt with wings, whereas the other Japanese Angelgotchi has the same icons as both the Pink and Blue Japanese versions, which are all similar to the original P1 and P2 Tamagotchis, except in a different order. The butt with wings icon can also be found as a toilet icon on the Devilgotchi.

Here are some pictures of the ones I currently own (I actually have all the colors of the American version now and I have all the colors of the two Japanese version, including the two white versions):

American Angels (yellow, white, blue, pink)

Japanese Angels (pink, white duck, blue, white butt)

I sold this white Angel since I already have the off-white gold shell, which I thought was prettier:

Here are some comparison photos so that you can see that the different shell designs of the American and Japanese:

Here are the European angels that I recently ordered. I'm still missing the yellow version, but I have the other three:

After I get the yellow Euroepan angel I'm going to stop buying angels :P

Here are some characters I've gotten.

Here are two pets that do not have packages. The white one I bought used on ebay without a package for about $10, and the other one is a damaged pink version that I accidentally broke a long time ago. It was the European version.

This is a picture of my very first angel that I accidentally put through the washing machine. It is yellow and very damaged, but still has the box.

There is a rumor that there is a gold tinted white version of the Japanese, but I'm not certain if it is an actual rare shell or just sun damaged. Mine happens to be gold tinted, and when I opened it up it was gold throughout the entire shell, even the inside of the Tamagotchi, and the buttons are still completely white, indicating that the shell has not been sun damaged. If it is a fake gold tint, then the seller I got it from would have had to go to great lengths to fake it by completely taking another tamagotchi apart, extracting the buttons to put them in the angel, and then taking the angel apart and setting all the parts in the sun equally to get the exact same shade of gold tint. From what I can tell the Tamagotchi was never used or taken apart (except by me), so I'm inclined to believe that it may be a rare gold tinted white version, especially since the icons are different. There's no way to know for sure, though.

price

Japanese Tamagotchi angels are currently running for around $30-40ish. Apparently an American Angel has become super rare or special for some reason, so they are running higher in the $80-200 range (I think $200 is kind of ridiculous...). The European angels are a bit more rare so they go for around $100-200 as well. I was lucky enough to get my European angels for $20 each :) At this point, if you don't want to spend a ton of money, I would buy a Japanese one. They are just as cute and function exactly the same, even have a couple of extra characters. They are just in Japanese. If you are familiar with how Tamagotchis work, they are not difficult to navigate.
