Mr. Dino

Mr. Dino is a typical virtual pet. He basically has most of the same functions as a Tamagotchi, except that he is a Dinosaur pet. He has a unique growth pattern that I've never seen in any other virtual pet. He starts out as a snake-like creature and then progresses into an extremely derpy looking dinosaur :P I like him. I haven't played with him enough to know if he has different potential growths, or if he just grows into the same thing every time. I've only seen this virtual pet with the blue shell. There are other similar shells, but they aren't the same dinosaur. I would recommend it if you want something that is simple like a vintage Tamagotchi and if you like unique animations and characters.

Here are some pictures of the one I own:

Price:

I bought mine for about $15, but they seem to be going for a lot more now.

NOTE: I traded this one away for another pet. If you have questions I may not be able to answer since I no longer own this one.

The strange thing about this pet is that it has the exact same shell as the Mr. Dino pet, but is it the same pet? Well, yes and no. It was clearly designed by the same people, and the shells are exactly the same, except for the fact that one has Dino characters on the shell and the other has Chicks, but for some reason it doesn't have it's own unique derpy characters. In fact... it's not even a chick at all! It's actually just a Tamagotchi clone. The characters are exactly the same as a P1, except the animations of the character's movements are a tiny bit different. The menus and icons are also exactly like the Mr. Dino, but it has all the same features as a basic P1 vintage Tamagotchi. I honestly wouldn't recommend getting this pet. You're better off just getting a genuine Tamagotchi. I got the yellow shell, but it's possible that the white shell version of this is different programming. I wouldn't take the risk of buying one, personally.

I got this one for about $15, just like the Mr. Dino, but I think the price has gone up recently, which I think is stupid because it's basically just a copy of a Tamagotchi P1. Don't pay an outrageous price for something you could get for cheaper that is more genuine. It's not a high quality pet.

This is an interesting 4-in-1 pet that I bought on eBay recently. It was made by the same company that manufactured the Toy Story virtual pet. As a result, the programming is very similar. You don't get to choose which pet you want, it choose randomly for you each time you start it up (unless there's some trick I don't know about that lets you choose for yourself). It is a choice between a fish, a crab, a seahorse and a sea star I believe, but please correct me if I'm wrong :) The one time I played it I got Flounder. Flounder started out small and cute and then grew into a big fat Flounder after a couple of days. This pet requires that you change and clean its water regularly. The game changes after it grows the first time, or at least it did in my experience. It started out with a guessing game and then changed to a matching game later. You can also pause this pet when you don't have time to play it. When it goes to sleep there are two options: 1) fast sleep, and 2) regular sleep. Fast sleep makes it so your pet wakes up sooner and grows sooner. I think if you set it to regular sleep it will probably just sleep the whole night through. I don't have the directions for this pet so I could be confused about a few things. Every shell I've seen of this pet has been slightly translucent with lots of sparkles, and shaped like a Seashell with Ariel on the front. It comes in many different colors and has a very big screen and big pixels (kind of like Dinkie sized pixels).

Price:

I bought mine for about $10 when I won it in an auction on eBay, but they typically go for about $40 used and for more when brand new.

This is a really weird pet and I'm not sure what to think about it. Firstly, it takes an unusual size of batteries (three of them). Secondly, it seems to be a combination of Kimiko Baby type animations, and regular pixels, with icons in a jumble in the lower right-hand side. The weirdest part is that I just can't figure out how this darn thing works. I've tried starting it up and playing with it several times, but for some reason it just won't... do anything. It never beeps. It won't eat, it won't play, and I've never seen it sleep. It has facial expressions at the bottom that are separate from the pixel animations, but I never see them change. I don't really know what to think about it. Maybe I'm not setting things correctly, so it won't start until I do. I guess I'll have to figure it out later when I have more time. Interestingly, there are other pet's out there that have the exact same shell, but different programming. So make sure you know what you are getting before you buy!

Here is a picture of the one I own. I do believe it comes in different colors (I've seen pink and white):

Price:

I bought this used for about $30. You could probably find it for way cheaper on eBay. I personally would not recommend buying it unless you see a different version with better programming. Hey, if anyone knows how it works, please leave a comment! I'd really like to know...

Frog Pet

This Frog has similar programming to the Dragon pet. The hatching sequence is very similar. It shows animations of a beach with birds when it's hatching. The baby is extremely cute and reminds me of a Tamagotchi angel lol It has the basic functions of a Tamagotchi: feeding, sleeping, discipline, game, shower, medicine etc. I actually quite enjoyed this pet and found that it did not die nearly as easily as the dragon. I'm not sure if it has more than one growth progression since I've only raised it one time. Once it got out of the toddler stage it wasn't nearly as cute since it just turned into a regular old frog. The beeping was soft and cute. The buttons are a hard plastic instead of your typical soft rubber feeling. I would say this is a good pet for those looking for something cute, but a little more masculine. I have never seen this pet anywhere else so I'm assuming it is rare. Some of the text is in Japanese, but it's pretty simple to figure out.

I don't know the price of this pet. We got it a long time ago when virtual pets first came out. I've never seen it anywhere else online and I don't even know what it's actually called, so I am assuming it must be sort of rare, therefore I don't know what the price is.
